Terms of Service

The service

Pen and Gameshelps you make crosswords and Sudoku: generate them with AI, build them by hand, keep them in projects, export them, and share projects with others. It's a young product, so features will change.

Accounts and organizations

• You sign in with Google. Keep your account secure; you're responsible for what happens in it.
• We approve new organizations by hand and may decline one.
• You're responsible for the people you invite to your organization or projects, and for what they do there.

Credits

Some features use credits. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred to another organization, and end when the organization is closed unless we agree otherwise. When a generation fails, its credits come back. Prices in credits may change; anything you pay for is also covered by the terms shown when you pay.

Your puzzles

The puzzles you make are yours, including ones generated with AI, to the extent the law allows. You may publish, print and sell them. You let us store, process and show your content only to run the service for you.

Our materials

The software, grid templates, word lists and clue tools belong to us or to those who license them to us. Use them through Pen and Gamesonly: don't copy, scrape or bulk-export them.

Past clues

The clue editor can show how an answer was clued in published puzzles. Those clues belong to their publishers and are shown for reference only. Don't copy them into your puzzles.

Check what you publish

AI-written clues and filled grids can contain mistakes, unsuitable content, or entries that resemble existing puzzles. Review every puzzle before you publish it; you're responsible for what you publish.

Fair use

• Don't use Pen and Games for anything illegal, infringing, hateful or harassing.
• Don't try to break its security, reach other people's data, or overload it.
• Don't resell access to it without our written permission.

Availability

We work to keep Pen and Gamesrunning and your work safe, but it's provided "as is", without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own copies of puzzles you can't lose.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it, or CA$100 if you haven't paid us.

Ending

You can stop using Pen and Games at any time and ask us to delete your organization. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Changes and law

We may update these terms and will tell you about significant changes; using Pen and Games afterwards means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario.
